Growing Green at King’s Park

WHAT’s It all ABOUT…

King’s Park Primary School had been awarded a grant from the SSE Airtricity Generation Green Community Fund to help us launch an ambitious new project: Growing Green at King’s Park.

But this project is more than just a school initiative — we hope that it becomes a whole community project.

With your support, we’re turning part of our school grounds into a vibrant outdoor learning space where pupils will plant, grow, explore and lead sustainability projects that inspire a new way of thinking — about learning, about nature, and about our shared future.

At the heart of Growing Green is a brand-new, hands-on Green Curriculum that will teach real-life skills like gardening, composting, energy awareness and biodiversity. Children will get their hands in the soil, learn about renewable energy, and lead their own eco-initiatives. We’ll also be welcoming local nursery schools for Forest School days and running community events, cookery workshops, and gardening sessions — all designed to connect our families and build a greener future together.

Our goal is to become a model for sustainability in education across Northern Ireland — and we need your help to do it!

How You Can Get Involved
We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

· Gardening and planting

· Building raised beds and planters

· Sharing expertise (e.g. in sustainability, gardening, outdoor learning)

·  Donating resources (tools, seeds, compost, etc.)

If you or someone in your family would like to be part of this exciting journey, please get in touch with us at GrowingGreen@kingsparkps.co.uk

Keep an eye out for more information and updates as we develop this project further.
