Please explore the different pages within the site to get a feel for our school… to explore the positive experiences children have here … and to see for yourself how our children enjoy the caring family atmosphere that helps us as a school to put into practice our ethos of:
‘Maximising potential in a safe and friendly environment’
We look forward to working together with you to support your child’s development in the exciting years of their primary education.
King’s Park primary School was originally built for 320 pupils, at a cost of £55,000. The first Principal was Mr James Andrews (1959 – 1970) followed by Mr Robert Kerns (1970 – 1983), Mr Jim Billingsley (1983 – 1996) and Mr Len Johnston (1996 – 2012). The present Principal, Mr Ivan Skinner, took up post in 2013.
There have also been five Vice-Principals, Mr Bill Beckett, Mr Ian Johnston, Mrs Betty Forster (Senior Mistress) and Mr Jamie Harris, with the current Vice-Principal, Mrs Gemma McCarey, taking up post in September 2015.
Since it opened in 1959, King’s Park Primary has sought to provide the best possible education for all its pupils and enjoys an excellent reputation in the community to which it forms a part, as well as in the Newtownabbey area generally.
The school is located just off the Doagh Road and is set in extensive grounds, providing large separate play areas for older and younger pupils as well as an ‘agility course’ and excellent facilities for games, athletics and outdoor events. Prospective parents are welcome to visit the school at any suitable time. Please contact the school secretary to make arrangements.
